My little Cat baby!

10 months
9 months

4 months3 months
2 months
1 monthA couple of days oldMy Little tiny cat baby is almost 11 months old and I was looking back and realized I just don't blog enough about her! Shes tiny but man is she a handful! In case its not rememberd she was born at 3lbs and 12 oz, I am happy to say at almost 11 months old she is up to 14lbs 3oz! Its taken alot to get there! She just recently in january had a feeding tube put into her tummy and in the last month its the most weight shes gained ever since shes been born!
Ill start at the begining....
When I was 18 weeks they told me there was something "wrong" with my baby and that they didn't know if she was going to make it. After weeks of worrying if she was going to make it and worrying if she did make it would she have lots of problems in her life? I had dozens of ultra sounds and heart and brain scans, I think I was on first name bases with everyone in the ob and special prenatal office! When I was right at 36 weeks I went in for an ultra sound the Dr told me she hadn't gained any weight in 3 weeks and that she needed to come out. So my office called me and told me the hospital was waiting for me. So I had to call my work...they werent very happy! I had to call Ryan, it was his firs day at a new job! They induced me and almost 24 hours later she was here...but not after having to be put on oxygen and being threathened with a c-section since she kept being in distress. Mom commented to me right before she was born that my delieverys stress her out! Sorry Mom! She was born...after one push...she was 3 lbs! They took her away bc her coloring wasn't good. They nursery people worked on her and they said i could hold her for a minute but then they had to take her. I made a comment how funny she sounds like a little kitty cat. She was in the hospital for 4 weeks for low birth weight, low oxygen and the fact that she had a hard time eating. After shed been there 3 weeks they said they could'nt find any reason she was so small and having a hard time growing, they asked if they could do a blood test to test her chromosomes. After a few weeks they told us that she had a problem with her number 5 chromosome...a few days later they told us she had a rare genetic syndrome called Cri du Chat...its french for Cats Cry Syndrome. (she definetly sounded like one) So unknown to Ryan and I my favorite nursery nurse kept insisiting to the Dr. that she had it where everyone else didn't think so, she kept pushing it until they had her tested. Its rare...1 in 50,000 births. We read up on it, it sounded very overwelming, but at least we had an answer to the question. Ryan and I were tested and neither of us are carriers so it was just a rare thing that happened. She can be a lot of work for coming in such a small package! Shes has the club feet, which are getting so much better that she only has to wear her braces at night! We have 3 therapists that come to our house every week. We have a feeding therapist that helps with her sucking, swallowing issues, a Developmental specialist, and a physical therapist to help her. Shes behind physically and developmentally from where she should be. Shes 11 months and still can't crawl or sit up..shes getting so close though! She can get up and rock on her hands and knees..so were hoping any day now! The genetics Dr. we see says it totally normal for her syndrome. The main thing this syndrome can affect is her larynx...thus the cat cry. Some children never talk at all, some can say a few sounds and words, she still so young we don't know about that part yet. Some days I look at other babys who are her same age and I think, If Lydia was "normal" she would be doing that, she could be standing maybe even taking a few steps or saying mom. But then I remember what a sweet little Lydie Bug I have and know that Heavenly Father gave her to me and Ryan and Cameron for a reason. Cameron loves her so much and is such a good helper with all her therapys and feeding time. I love that hes her older brother, hes going to take such good care of her. Oh Ryan...I know Lydia has a special place in her heart for her daddy....he loves her so much. She lights up when he comes home from work...she has to look for him all the time to make sure hes still there! When he leaves a room, she crys. Hes so good with her. When she was in the hospital for 6 days getting the feeding tube in he didn't leave her side, not once. He said shes to little and if we don't look out for her, whos going to? I know some days shes frustrating and keeps me up and night but what we have done if the Drs were right and she hadn't made it past 18 weeks. The other day we were shopping and Cameron says mom, can I have a brother?! I said do you want to trade Lydia for a brother and he looks and her and me and says, no I love little Lydia...that about sums up how we all feel about our sweet spiritited Little Cat baby!
I guess good things do really come in small packages!
